Radiation Oncology Nurse

Radiation oncology nurses have received additional education and accreditation in oncology nursing and in the care of patients receiving radiation therapy. A radiation oncology nurse will help evaluate you before treatment begins and play a key role in educating you about the treatment and its effects. Your radiation oncology nurse will follow your progress during and after treatment to help manage any side effects you might experience.

Radiation Therapist

The radiation therapist is a professional technologist who has received specialized training in the delivery of radiation treatment, including the use of CyberKnife. During the planning phase of your treatment, the radiation therapist will perform a CT scan that will visualize the tumor's size, shape and location. On the day of your treatment, he or she will ensure you are positioned correctly and comfortably on the treatment table and will safely administer the radiation treatment according to the plan developed by your radiation oncologist and medical physicist. Although the radiation therapist will not remain in the room with you, he or she will constantly monitor your progress.

Patient Services Coordinator

Our patient services coordinator will greet you when you arrive at the center. On the day of your first visit she will collect information from you that will be used to register you in our computer system and set up your medical record. Our patient services coordinator is available to help answer your questions or direct you to another staff member who can.

Scheduler

Our scheduler will work closely with you to schedule and coordinate your appointments for treatment planning, treatment and follow-up visits.

Financial Counselor

Our financial counselor is available to assist you with your insurance and billing questions. If you do not have insurance or think you might need financial assistance for your CyberKnife treatment, our financial counselor will connect you with the right department at Swedish Medical Center for your particular needs.
